Day 3: Speaking of Spokane

Ok! Our new route heads directly northeast towards the Canadian border at Rooseville, MT so we continued on our way from Bend,OR to Spokane,WA.  This was a smaller mileage day totaling around 390 miles...  The concept for today was to focus on major highways and get to Spokane before dark so we could double check our trail gear and prepare for the cdt.  Thus, today's miles were straight and easy and managed to produce some great scenery, however, we hit one section with TREACHEROUS winds. (We knew we were in trouble when we saw that we were heading directly into the middle of a vast, vast wind farm.)  Most of you know that we're both mountaineers... we know our winds, and we're estimating 35-40 mph gusts while doing 60mph into it... You do the math. Bottom line: We were getting blown all over the road. Once we turned east though, it was easy riding all the way to Spokane.  Once in Spokane we headed out to get some dinner and then we had to come up with some way to handle our GPS data issue... Luckily, our waiter, Jared, hooked us up with the hotel's business center computer and after a coupla minutes and a bit of creative thinking we had Goda's GPS back up and running with all the off-road data we needed.  We're gonna hit the hay early tonight, but like the night before Christmas, well both be dreaming of the trials, tribulations, and triumphs that we are sure to encounter as we start the continental divide!!!

Ps. Tomorrow's forecast calls for rain and thunderstorms... What better way to start playing in the dirt? ... scratch that... I mean, "mud"

We promise many more pics and vids to come.
